Our SVS Virtual Studio MAY 2020 πΈ

Iβm trying out Leeβs -process that he outlined in his Thursday Jump video a few weeks ago. Iβm sticking to a similar Color scheme because itβs already hard enough to figure out what I am doing lol. This is going to be Luna lovegood in the Forbidden forest with a baby thestral. Lots left to figure out. I had to put Luna in there as the unfinishedness of it all was a bit daunting. Background needs more cleaning up and the foliage needs some cleaning and detail. Iβm not good at foliage or backgrounds but trying to figure it out. The light coming through the trees probably should be less angled like a cone and more rectangular. Iβll get there eventually
Hope everyone is well and safe. -
@Lorna-H your message has made me smile so much!! thank you for being so kind and saying this. I hope you and your family are well and safe:)

I recently started an art group with a couple buddies from work, because I wanted a) more of an artist community outside of the digital world, and b) felt I could use some more accountability in productivity. We decided we'd all paint my friends dog, and though I'll be making that painting in oil, I wanted to do a smaller, quicker, more illustrative piece in ink, watercolor, and gouache. I've titled this "Bulldogs Suck at Poker."

I've been trying to push my environments a bit while trying to find more consistency. Hopefully it's kind of working? Practice during times like these is both relaxing and rough. lol
-
More Mermay stuff with some different approaches and ideas...
-
@ajillustrates Lol~~ omg I find it so hilarious and adorable that he's holding completely wrong cards! Hahaha, great image!
-
@jdubz I love the last one the best. Such great environment design! It's really believable that this place exists. If this was a cartoon, I'd totally watch it, haha.
-
@aprilshin Thank you! I think this image popped into my head when I thought of the classic "dogs playing poker" painting and it occurred to me, "Hey, dogs would be really terrible at this. I mean, they can't even read."
-
@xin-li I'm in love with your illustration style. It's so dreamy! The colours are so pretty!
Well done!

I got a new iPad and am trying out Procreate. I really love it. It is far more intuitive than Photoshop so far. Here is a quick sketch I threw together in an hour or so...
-
@demotlj Eastern Bluebirds are nesting in my bird boxes now, too! I love to watch them and enjoyed seeing your watercolor painting

Wow I completely missed April Virtual Studio...but anyway, still working on these from Easter. I was rushed at the end because of greeting card deadlines, so I wasn't thrilled with the outcome but I'm glad that I learned so much working on these two. I'm trying to decide what direction to take with composition and mixed media for my future cards.

Woops...
-
@chrisaakins That's a very cute little mouse!
-
@Braden-Hallett I love the how strong the character design is. The gesture is just perfect. Awesome Illustration!
-
@Braden-Hallett storytelling here is

Working on my Luna and the baby thestral piece.

Yesterday I got the wonderful chance to see some of my neighbour's calves so I did a gouache painting of them in my sketchbook. I've only started using gouache so I've a LOT to learn:)
-
@aprilshin Thanks - yeah I like the idea of watercolors more than I like the outcomes of when I use it

He may not have many repeat clients... but I've heard he gives amazing life advice.
