June Prompt - Low hanging fruit
-
@Kevin-Longueil love it! The tale on A is my fav.
-
@Kevin-Longueil I like c. But follow your heart
-
B seems to feel most like Clyde is shooting out of the water. The other tails have a really nice feel to them too but kind of look like they're about to hit the water. So maybe if you choose A, change the water to really be moved by the tail?
I see why you might think it's an obvious solution but I think it's direct and dynamic. I hope you keep Bongo diving like that.
-
@Kevin-Longueil Looks Great! I like the twisty ribbon tail in C. I hear ya on the low hanging fruit but this is the most dynamic moment in the story and you knocked it out of the park.
-
THis is cool! I like B the best beacuse it looks different near the tip. it's behind water and adds more contrast. It also looks like he's launching out of the water more with B!
-
I like A
-
My vote is C! I like the extra twist. I feel like it makes the silhouette more interesting. This is so dynamic! Excited to see what you do with Bongo.
-
C looks most natural to me... love this so far!
-
Honestly- I like them all! A. feels like it has more force behind the gesture, like he's just pushed himself up with a mighty swing of that tail. B. is very aesthetically pleasing with the fade of the tail. C. has a beautiful silhouette and has almost an iconic, graphic feel to it. I'd be pleased with whichever one you choose.
-
I love them all!! They're just gorgeous!! I think B is my favorite, though--it has a nice sketchy quality that is aesthetically pleasing to my eye, and in my imagination it looks like he's using his tail more. It just seems more logical to me... But is that even relevant? There's so much epic drama in all of these! They'd all be fantastic!!
-
@Kevin-Longueil I think I like B the best!
-
@Kevin-Longueil I prefer C too. It's look pretty amazing so far!
-
I love them all but with a slight preference for B because for me, having the tail in the water provides some continuity between the parts of the picture.
-
Tail A leads my eye back into the composition the best, but they are all great.
-
@Kevin-Longueil
I like "A" because the tail of the crocodile makes him look happier. -
There is great energy in all 3! I say go with whichever one you you like best.
-
@Kevin-Longueil I change my mind, B or C look more realistic in terms of tail thrust. Iām curious, do you block out the forms in a silhouette and them use an eraser to create details? I really like the look of it. Care if I steal it? It looks like scratch board.
-
Thank you All for your kind words and thoughts - i really appreciate your feedback! It seems to be a near even split between the three and good points made in favor of each. A is happiest and leads your eye back into the composition - B makes the most sense - and C has the extra curve in the tail which is kinda cool.
I'll combine B and C to see if that is a good way to go - But i was surprised to see that the "happier"ness of A was mentioned because that is what i was feeling too... ill keep working on it - ill work on Bongo for a while and@Nyrryl-Cadiz Thank you so much Nyrryl!
@Jeremy-Ross Thank you Jeremy!

@demotlj Thank you for the feedback Laurie!
@j-sienkowski Thank you for your feedback!
@Mara-Price Thank you for your feedback Mara - i was really wondering if anyone else would feel that way about A...he seems happier to me too
@Kristin-Dudish Thank you for the feedback Kristin! -
@Kevin-Longueil looking back at it I realized that the twisting tail of C isn't isolated the whole body of the alligator is corkscrewing into the air, it feels connected which makes me wish the monkey was twisting more. To make it more aligned as an image.

@chrisaakins Thanks for the updated vote Chris
I love scratchboard illustration! I am definitely going back and forth between eraser and pencil, blacking out areas and erasing back into them - i don't think i'm doing anything new or theft worthy but i would love to see what you do with the technique (i'm using the same Nikko Lockertsen pencil i've been using for a few years for the marks) I drew the the alligator as a very boring constructed volume and cut and pasted until it had a bit of life to it in the silhouette but did not draw silhouettes before hand...that would be too smart...Although i did make the silhouettes of the front legs with the selection tool before pasting them onto the body. Definitely silhouette conscious in general though - Thanks again for the feedback!
