I’m finally getting a chance to play with watercolor again. My husband got me these cool shimmer watercolors for Hanukkah and they are perfect for pigeon feathers!

Playing with a lot of "character sheets" lately, exploring a sandbox world to play in. Determined I like a bit more "humanization" than stylized abstraction, so the baby character sheet is a bit more dimensional. The process is helping me think things through. Haven't taken Anna Daviscourt's character design class yet, so I'm really looking forward to that.

                      Done 😃

I'm thinking of doing one more. One that would come after the cubs decorate the tree. Any ideas?🤔

For Christmas this year, I wanted to thank my teammates at work for sticking through 2020 with me by surprising them with ornaments featuring their pets. Jason doesn’t have a pet, so he got Dobby from Harry Potter.

As a step towards getting better at backgrounds, and to get a bunch of drawing practice in, I've decided to take a Slowvember approach to Draw 50 things. My plan is to choose a setting (my first one is 'garden'), make a list of 50 things that would go in that scene, and then take time to not just pop the item in a scene, but to really learn how to draw it and what makes it tick and then make it a character (which is kind of the test for whether or not I figured out how to draw the thing. It makes me really mindful of what makes up the 'thing' and it also makes me think about character gesture and viewpoints). At some point I'll stick them all together for a scene. Here are a few examples:

                                        beets.jpg
