March contest question
-
I am brand new to doing contests so i had a couple of questions.
Do most of you stick to just the requirements or do you add anything-maybe expressions, more poses etc that give context to the character’s background? Do you write anything with your character to explain who they are and where they’re from? Just curious about what is expected and allowed

@AbbeyK based on last time, I think they are looking for creative elements that lend themselves to the storytelling. The winning entries to the Yeti character all had “extras” that added to the feel of the character.

On the yeti character design I had three expressions ranging from neutral to enraged and it was well received. Anything that lets them know who your character is will probably be a good addition.

Hi @AbbeyK I'd say it's pretty open as long as you meet the minimum requirements. For the last character design, I added in a size chart, a couple of face variations, and a small amount of text--which didn't cause any problem. Several people did extra expressions as well. I would probably avoid too much text since the illustration should do the heavy lifting.
