I am continuing to practice my inking but couldn’t think of what to sketch so I googled, “random animal” and the first animal to come up was a hedgehog, so here is my pen and ink hedgehog.

@burvantill I really the style and spent some time peering behind the letters looking at all the great stuff you have in the background but to do that, I had to zoom in with my iPad Pro. What size are the postcards? Can you see that detail with the naked eye?
-

@demotlj I built it at 6x4.25”. i haven’t printed it yet. I wanted to see if it would pass the digital test. I guess not.
-

@demotlj Second search find was "worm" right lols?
-

@Heather-Boyd I added the worm for fun and after I finished inking I discovered hedgehogs sometimes eat worms. I guess I could enter this in "The Moment Before" contest!
-

@demotlj Yes I like it, will he eat him or befriend him, lols

I decided not to go with the vintage postcard look. It was a stupid idea.
Here is what I am gonna do. Three postcards. I'm going to do pencil drawings (B/W) for the other side that correspond with the front image.

Worked on silhouettes at my grandmother's/ aunts house after my grandmother's funeral. I penciled on paper -trees, people moving and birds. Then inspired by a painting of a fox in the house -it help me put the shapes of a dog together. I sketched it and then redrew it better in Digital -WIP. It's a tad of the light side.

To end my day- personal project -I worked simply by putting two brushes together from Corel. Thanks

@Heather-Boyd I'm sorry for your loss. It's neat that you found an opportunity for a little study during those circumstances and perhaps find a release. I really like the shapes of the dog and bird, too.

After practicing with stylizing things.. finally came up with a character design idea for my webcomic. Based off of Slavic folktales, prince Ivan.
-

@Aleksey Do you mean Ivan Ho?
-

@Heather-Boyd maybe? Im not familiar with the surname, theres so many ivans in russian fairytales.
-

@Aleksey Sorry I guess not. Sir Walter Scott wrote a Scottish novel of an Ivanhoe.
-

@Heather-Boyd ah no this is based off of ivan the fool. And various other slavik folk tales.
-

Working on finishing color for a to-be indie-published book... had to share with someone! (SHHHhh for now)

Another ivan design. I think i like the pointier jaw more.

-

@Aleksey I agree gives him a more confident if not a tad overconfident personality/look with the pointed jaw and nose. I don't know anything about the character however.
-

@Heather-Boyd yeah i agree. Im kinda making it up. In the old stories hes the protagonist, im kinda making him an antihero because of how self centered he is. My own little adaptation.
-

@Aleksey I also like the pointier jaw. The round jaw gives him more of a lazy look than an arrogant look but the pointier jaw communicates his personality well.
