March Prompt "Book Cover"
-
@ajillustrates no surprise there The Little Prince is a classic.
-
I asked my son because I couldnāt decide and he immediately shouts out Eragon! So Iām doing Eragon.
-
Do people know Terry Pratchette stories? I want to do āThe Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodentsā but I worry that not enough people know who Terry Pratchette was.
-
I'd like to do a cover for The Giver, by Lois Lowry, a middle grade book. Is everyone familiar with that story? Just want to be sure since I had a surprising/bad experience at a recent conference where both an art director and a picture book author/illustrator didn't seem to recognize the story.
-
As long as the book exists, I would just reference the book and maybe a link to the synopsis. I for one can not read, I have a hard time with it. I am a visual person and brief graphic novels over books. So this is going to be a hard one for me. I think the last book a read was in high school. I guess I should just do that one. I think it was Lord of the Flies.
-
@Chip-Valecek could you not do a book cover for nursery rhymes - I have two oldies (book collections) that I love?
-
@Johanna-Kim Not sure, sounds familiar -reminds me of The Stone Soup -read that one once in high school.
-
@Aleksey One of my very favorite writers--I've read everything he wrote. Amazing Maurice would be awesome!
-
@Johanna-Kim I love The Giver. It is definitely a classic and I would love to see what you would do with it!
-
@Heather-Boyd I'm sure that would be fine. As long as its not made up and it clearly defines what is in the book.
-
Cheers Chip, I like the prompt. I think Lord of the flies would suit your style really well too.
-
@Eli so its a throw up between that and the frog prince for me
-
OOOO! Just saw this - pretty excited to see what everyone comes up with, and I love that we're going with well known stories.
I think I'm going to go with either the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" or the YA "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Anyone familiar with those stories? Also @Heather-Boyd - my friend told me the story for Stone Soup while camping once - brings back good memories.
I also agree with @peteolczyk for @Chip-Valecek - I think Lord of the Flies would be way up your alley.
-
@kaitlinmakes Both of those would be so cool. I read Island of the Blue Dolphins LONG ago but remember really liking it. But I've got to say that I think Yellow Wallpaper would be AMAZING and darkly fun !!
-
Hey everybody,
I did The Knight in Rusty Armor by Robert Fisher. Below the piece.I read the book many years ago; but here is the best book summary I found.
The story is great and I highly recommend it. It is the story about a person finding the real values of family and facing hard challenges.
Thank you and good luck,

@josegalue25 - Wow! This looks great! I'm really second guessing my entry after seeing yours!! Great job!
-
Hi, all! This is my first post. Eek! I'm excited to just dive in. I went with a classic - Little Red Riding Hood, but with a spookier vibe. Pen and ink with watercolor, and a little lighting work/text on the computer. Lots of great art on these forums. Best of luck to everyone! -Marie
-
@WindyWyoGal I like it. A darker take on the story.
-
This is my first entry into one of these contests. I hope Iām up to par with everyone. I decided to go with one of my all-time favorite books, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. If you havenāt read it, close your computer right now, go out, and purchase it immediately. Itās worth your time!
