I asked my son because I couldn’t decide and he immediately shouts out Eragon! So I’m doing Eragon. šŸ˜‚

Do people know Terry Pratchette stories? I want to do ā€œThe Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodentsā€ but I worry that not enough people know who Terry Pratchette was.

I'd like to do a cover for The Giver, by Lois Lowry, a middle grade book. Is everyone familiar with that story? Just want to be sure since I had a surprising/bad experience at a recent conference where both an art director and a picture book author/illustrator didn't seem to recognize the story.

As long as the book exists, I would just reference the book and maybe a link to the synopsis. I for one can not read, I have a hard time with it. I am a visual person and brief graphic novels over books. So this is going to be a hard one for me. I think the last book a read was in high school. I guess I should just do that one. I think it was Lord of the Flies.

@Chip-Valecek could you not do a book cover for nursery rhymes - I have two oldies (book collections) that I love?

@Heather-Boyd I'm sure that would be fine. As long as its not made up and it clearly defines what is in the book.

Cheers Chip, I like the prompt. I think Lord of the flies would suit your style really well too.

OOOO! Just saw this - pretty excited to see what everyone comes up with, and I love that we're going with well known stories.
I think I'm going to go with either the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" or the YA "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Anyone familiar with those stories?

Also @Heather-Boyd - my friend told me the story for Stone Soup while camping once - brings back good memories.

I also agree with @peteolczyk for @Chip-Valecek - I think Lord of the Flies would be way up your alley.

@kaitlinmakes Both of those would be so cool. I read Island of the Blue Dolphins LONG ago but remember really liking it. But I've got to say that I think Yellow Wallpaper would be AMAZING and darkly fun !!

                                  Hey everybody,
I did The Knight in Rusty Armor by Robert Fisher. Below the piece.

                                  TheKnight.jpg

I read the book many years ago; but here is the best book summary I found.

                                  http://www.jfdperfsolutions.com/modules/news/personal_improvement-book_summary~3A_~26quot~3Bthe_knight_in_rusty_armor~26quot~3B_by_robert_fisher.html

The story is great and I highly recommend it. It is the story about a person finding the real values of family and facing hard challenges.

                                  Thank you and good luck,
                                  Jose

Hi, all! This is my first post. Eek! I'm excited to just dive in. I went with a classic - Little Red Riding Hood, but with a spookier vibe. Pen and ink with watercolor, and a little lighting work/text on the computer. Lots of great art on these forums. Best of luck to everyone! -Marie Little Red Marie Burghard March Contest 2019.jpg

This is my first entry into one of these contests. I hope I’m up to par with everyone. I decided to go with one of my all-time favorite books, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. If you haven’t read it, close your computer right now, go out, and purchase it immediately. It’s worth your time!
