Hello ladies and gents! Week 2 was haaaard for me πŸ˜ƒ Awesome work from everyone else, though! Doing these exercises is definitely paying off.

This week is the videos 'interiors' and, if you can, 'the details'. Do exercises 6a, 6b, 6c. Remember, these are still meant to be pretty rough, not finished masterpieces. Throw some value in if you want to, but linework is fine πŸ™‚

The point where Jake explains ALL the homework is at about the 50 minute mark in the 'reference' video.

Feel free to pop into the discord to chat! PM me if you need a link and instructions πŸ™‚

Have fun! If you need to work at a slower pace, that's fine, too.

Post your hut, couch and building here and remember that rough drawin's are just fine!

Here's mine! For the hut I did a little silhouette, but the couch and 'building' I just decided to see where the pencil took me. I'm really into castles for some reason at the moment πŸ˜„

@Aleksey I can’t believe you were able to get so many details in the sketch of the building, it looks great.

@ErinCortese i did another layer with more lines so that its all lined up but if you look closely i only put β€œdetails” on parts that will draw your eye. Like the roof of the tal building, but the side of it has just 4 windows and no details.

Here is exercise 6a. I did three of them, but I am not thrilled with any. Houses and building are not my thing. A lot more work needed here.

@murielle I was pretty procrastinaty about last week's exercise! Don't feel bad. And you're never as bad as you think you are πŸ™‚ All our inner critics are jerks.

I did two sketches, drawing on a tablet which I don't have a lot of practice with! Just trying to get used to working in photoshop a little and not get totally overwhelmed like I normally do lol.
First house is based on hut from the film set for Random Passage, a wood hut with mossy/grassy roof. Second house is sort of greek themed.
Will have to get on the other two exercises asap. Bit strapped for time this week with kids off from school for easter break.
The exercises are teaching me a lot about using reference to influence my sketch and idea but not be married to it! I SO need to learn to do that. And last week's exercises on thumbnails was fantastic to get me started on that habit. Really learning some important ways to work here......pretty sure it will stay with me. Grateful for this group as well πŸ™‚

The couches went easier, I feel much better about these. They are definitely less intimidating than buildings. What I do feel like I am missing here though is the stylization. @Braden-Hallett the stylization is something that you nailed! Yours look like they are ready to drop in a composition. Is that something that comes naturally for you, or did it come with practice? I wasn't even thinking about style or thirds and fifths while I was doing these, it wasn't until I was finished that I noticed the lack of style.
