Our SVS Virtual Studio AUGUST🌻2019

Pretty impressive.
-
Not done yet, but the prompt spoke to me, lol
-
@Coreyartus wow!
-
@Braden-Hallett I challenge anyone to come up with a challenge you can’t illustrate
-
@Coreyartus Really well done. That's the next video class I want to do when I finish the How to Ink one.
-
@Braden-Hallett I'm going to give up drawing and just come up with prompts for you to do! When you're done, I'll buy a print
-
@MichaelaH me too, slept so much in first trimesters! Sweet illustration
-
@Braden-Hallett this is awesome
-
@Braden-Hallett This is SO good! Your work was really good when I joined SVS last November, but over the past couple of months it seems like your style and skills have really evolved. Inspiring work!
-
@BichonBistro @demotlj @coley thanks! :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:
@Erin-Cortese Thanks! Everyone always forgets (or doesn't realize it at the time) but skill acquisition and learning isn't always linear. I think a few switches flicked or puzzle pieces clicked
-
@Braden-Hallett I needed to hear that, thank you. I fell into that trap, or rather expectation of linear progress. It’s incredibly unhelpful because it makes me feel like I am digressing instead of learning. Each time I focus on a new skill, it seems like my other skills (which are still developing) get worse. Waiting for that ‘click’ when my skills begin to play nicely with one another
-
Another of Santa's helpers collecting magic for next Christmas! Today I had a difficult challenge with the colours, the jungle was green now it's pink!
-
Reworked piece for assignment on another site. Really pushed myself to draw characters multiple times. Character has become younger since my first iteration and am trying a looser style. Also, love playing with symmetry tool in Procreate so been creating these silly bugs (?) before bed to relax.
-
Trin'' to put the inking course to work I think this is the first time I've done an honest to god spread, too.
-
@Braden-Hallett
And its an environment design -everything is coming together.
-
I fiddled a bit with watercolor, gouach, color pencil and a box of kid crayon. I often think of the illustrations I produce digitally are somehow mimicing traditonal watercolor and color pencil. So I decide to play a bit more with these tools traditionally for a change. Anyone has tips working with mixed media, especially watercolor and colored pencil combination?
-
@Heather-Boyd Very true
I did do a lot of silhouettes to figure it out :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
-
@Braden-Hallett love!
-
so in keeping with limiting oneself to one thing at a time in terms of focusing on to make progress, I am ....
practicing inking
working two different photoshop pieces
watching a photoshop tutorial repeatedly that I downloaded
drawing hundreds of sketches of head and feet and hands and beans etc etc
trying to complete two oil painting pet portrait commissions
and I just started writing my own ideas for a kid's booklol!!!!!!
I need to take a little break, eyes are getting tired...........have kids to look after too so breaks are built in lol
I am trying to finish another photoshop piece which will be my fifth (fourth is the dream bedroom wip which keeps getting put aside!) . I am really playing around with this, edges are rough and not sure on colors at all etc, everything may change but it's a learning piece anyhow! trying to figure out brushes, gradients. color adjustment tools and various layers such as screens etc etc............always learning a teensy bit each day so I'm going with that 1% better each day goal!
-
I was depressed that it was taking a while, and then remembered that it's basically two pages in one :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
