How to Ink Group Runthrough Week 3

@burvantill your lines are looking good! I'm going to steal your by line: justkeepinkingjustkeepinking...

Thinking-inking about my happy place that is getting hammered by Dorian right now
. Fragile Ocracoke Island on the outer banks of North Carolina is experiencing terrible conditions right now. @Pamela-Fraley painted this beautiful watercolorโthe heart is the tiny village of Ocracoke, accessible only by ferry.

Reconfigured my usual 'pen' so that it's more like an honest to god brush pen (opacity variance set to nuthin so it's black or white and thassit!) It's kinda like taking off the training wheels
Here's a comparison of a couple of characters. Old brush on left, new brush on right.
-
@burvantill Ahh, see, thatโs my problem. My butterfly needs to go on a diet.
-
@Braden-Hallett The new brush looks a lot cleaner. I like it.
-
@demotlj love it!
-
I worked a little more with the brush pen tonight and decided Iโll definitely be sticking with the dip pen for Inktober.

Thank! Me too

It's good to know what tools are best for you at least
-
@Braden-Hallett both look good. On my phone I can't really tell a difference.
-
@chrisaakins That's also good. Means I can use whichever one I feel like
-
Doing some test subjects for my Inktober project. Character study on a balloon. Iโm thinking simple is better. Itโs going to be the only color in the whole project so I think value lines might jam it up. Although I do like #2 as well as #3, Counterclockwise from the bottom left
-
@ambiirae sorry for the delayed reply. Itโs a new one they released for Inktober. I think itโs just an inking demo for follow along purposes. Havenโt gone through yet, been busy with kids. Hoping to make it happen this weekend.
-
@burvantill Very nice! i was gonna compliment your badoons even before I read your comment
I'm partial to the simplest middle one, too. It's the one that says 'shiny' to me the most.

,
I shamelessly stole practice ideas from you people posting your work lol and did a bit of practice today. Hopefully that's ok!!!!!
I have been doing scattered bits of inking, mostly I am just trying to get some sketches done for some of the prompts, hoping to get at least 6 days of participating in, hopefully 10. Being new to illustration I am working very slowly doing tons of thumbnails and research and trying to have decent composition and perspective too............ -
My daily practice today. Got a bit side tracked from the form line practice. I was trying to figure out something I would like to do for inktober. I might try to use ink to paint for this inktober. Excited to continue the value and light and shadow practice next week. I think I might try with ink wash to make value and light/shadow.
-
@chrisaakins -I can see you progress-but I am stunned and envious of how you turn this practice/exercise into a composition with variety and interest. Love it
-
Here is my practice. You can tell what I've been watching on TV. Also footballs are surprisingly hard to draw.
@Susan-Marks thanks for your kind words!
-
Did some simple practice today. It is definetly starting to feel better
probably do some more but figured I better get my photo in before we loose power to this thunder storm
This was my favorite for today
Thinking of doing 31 pups of october based off our 4 month old pup Cujo

When it comes to practice, there is no stealing, only sharing
-
@xin-li I think an ink wash is a great idea
kinda like watercolour but much more awesome!
