        Thinking of doing 31 pups of october based off our 4 month old pup Cujo

        Also, 31 pups of inktober is a great idea!

            @ambiirae I like your balloons. I was having a tough go of it shading my balloons. Your dark one turned out good. 👍

              @Braden-Hallett I know. I never really tried doing ink wash. I often admire artists who can make something so suggestive, but looks so casual. It is almost like a magic for me. I probably will fail terriblely, but I hope I will learn a thing or two.

                @Braden-Hallett whew, lol 🙂 Actually I was listening to the podcasts a bunch this week and a few times they talked about copying for practice as a way to learn so I figured I'm going for it ha ha.

                  For daily practice today, I found some really old brushes (I think it was acrylic paint brushes), and practice ink wash on copy paper.
                  I actually bought some small watercolor board with an intension to try out ink wash. But somehow it was so much easier to get started messing around on the regular copy papers. Do you guys have "expensive art supply anxiety"?

                          I've spent enough money on fancy art supplies that have sat unused in my cupboard to buy a new tablet like three times over.

                          I sometimes have panic attacks when looking specialty papers now :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

                              So this was my attempt at shapes that I avoided posting last week. This was not my first attempt ðŸ˜Ģ . I drew the mummy because I was frustrated with the shapes, and that seemed to come more naturally. I really struggle to draw circles as you can see by all the attempts, and I find the other shapes almost as difficult for some reason. Something just goes wonky every time I attempt a geometric shape. The hatch marks are just as big of a problem. I feel much more comfortable with organic shapes and objects that I feel I understand. Going to keep plugging away.

                                @Erin-Cortese Shapes. Are. Hard.

                                Shapes are hard.

                                But they're also the kinds of things that you don't notice getting better until they're better. So it's gonna be awful and frustrating until it's all over until you what I mean 🙂

                                  @Braden-Hallett Thank you!! I thought it was just me. I felt like it was just some strange quark I had. For whatever reason I felt like shapes should be the easiest thing to work with. Again, me and my expectations, lol.

                                    @Erin-Cortese I've also had real problems with circles but one thing that helped me was a suggestion on the Figure Drawing video: lock your elbow and wrist and start drawing circles in the air just above the paper, do a couple of air circles, and then without stopping move your pen onto the paper and draw the circle. I'm still not great but when I do that, it works better.
