Warm up from today. Tried to paint like I would with traditional paints by mixing all my colors from three primaries.

You guys are all so awesome! It's fun to see such strong styles develop, and the variety of images is wonderful. I love seeing the rough starts as well as the finished work. I think the monthly studio thread is one of my favorites, so thank you all for contributing.

I've been totally discouraged lately, not drawing at. all. Maybe cruising the forum will help πŸ™‚

The still life train continues for the Schoolism Light and Color class. Last pair for assignment 5. I thought this would be an easy setup to paint and it turned out to be one of the hardest ones.
            5.5 Color Light.png

I decided to paint traditionally for part of assignment 6 so I could get a wider scene.

I decided to do a little series of Halloweeny wizard critters with a loose tie-in to foods that that critter might like. Strawberry the bunny is first! Now to color him.

Not my drawing but practising with watercolours which I haven’t touched for a long time. Nice break from the digital stuff !29B6C320-6138-4A54-8D94-C4A109901BE0.jpeg

Sketching out ideas for a possible set of illustrations. A grandma and kid pick flowers and make leis for loved ones arriving at the airport.

@MissMushy were you following the suggestion of the mindofwatercolor? I wanted to do it too! Did you learn / improve?

Playing with some new brushes in Procreate, hoping for something believable as watercolors.

@Julia yes it was from his channel! It was a good refresher - also was trying out some new brushes and paints so was good learning for that. Thought the idea of using colouring book pages to practice just painting was a good one. πŸ‘πŸΌ

@burvantill I bought a brush pack thru Design Cuts. There’s a bunch of different texture brushes to play with - watercolor, china ink, dry mediums... I also got some free watercolor brushes thru WollyPronto, found her on YouTube.

Now I need to get better at using them!

I found a couple yesterday for free. I’m hesitant to buy a pack yet because I’m not good at digital painting yet, I need practice too. I will check out the Wolly person. πŸ˜¬πŸ™‚

@Heather-Boyd I really like that style you're working in. The pinecone and leaf remind me a little of a woodcut.

My next image is Clover the Guinea Pig. She's a busy witch, but she wonders why bees follow her everywhere.
