How to ink group run through week 6

@Erin-Cortese this is so neat. Beautiful textures. Also love the typography for TEXTURE.
-
@burvantill Thank you so much.
@Braden-Hallett Thank you. I really do not know where I am going to take this style/technique next. I do not think I have allowed myself to paint so loosely before. Right now I just paint one picutre at time, building up quantity of work before figuring out where they belong to. I am consider incorprate watercolor, or playing with colored ink. -
@Braden-Hallett That is high praise, thank you
-
@xin-li Thank you, I had fun with this one!
-
And saw this flower today. Echinacea. How's this for texture?
-
Not very exciting but I have completed the assignment. On to the extra credit.
-
@demotlj these look really good.
-
@chrisaakins Thanks. I hope Braden decides to do the class on light and shadow next because Iβm totally guessing the cast shadows.
-
-
@demotlj These are good!!!

I saw a Great Blue Heron in my yard today holding a very fat gopher in his beak. I stood and watched for a few minutes while the heron proceeded to try and shake the little fatty to death and while the little fatties legs were running wildly in hopes of escape. It took a really long time and I had the thought in my head of the gopher looking at the heron with disgust that he couldnβt just finish it already.
-
@chrisaakins These are really good. I like how you did the wood. I was just using lines but your right, there is a texture of grain lines within the wood lines. Nice job
-
@burvantill thanks!
-
@Erin-Cortese wow this is super impressive!
-
@burvantill Whatβs the end of the story? Did the heron actually eat the gopher? And by gopher, do you mean what we mean here in NY by gopher - a woodchuck? I canβt imagine our herons attempting to eat woodchucks. Iβm so intrigued by this story.
-
@burvantill I feel bad for the gopher , but I love your drawings. I really like the contour lines on the small tree and rootball!
-
@Coley Thank you!!
-
@demotlj He ate it. The gophers in California are bigger than a hamster but smaller than a guinea pig, or the size of a large russet potato . He shook it about for a while until it stopped wiggling then swallowed it whole like he would a fish. Itβs amazing to watch them hunt. They move so slow right up until they strike, almost like a snake. And if they miss they act like a cat that fell off a table, βI totally meant to do thatβ
@Erin-Cortese I think you would feel differently if you could see what they do to your yard. -

We'll see I might do the 'how to draw anything' course since it reinforces a LOT of what we learned here and I think I really need to hammer a lot of this home.

I gotta make myself a style sheet for things like rock, wood and such,
