I think it's time to start sketching Now I get to play around with character design and stuff.

The reason I did such a detailed mini painting before even doing the sketch is because it's on the colour and light (and therefore the value) stage that I always fall flat and get frustrated. I'm trying to move that stage of frustration up in my process so that it happens when I'm still very rough so I can play around with major changes and crazy lighting in a fairly non destructive manner.

And now I can look over at the minipainting and go 'remember, it's supposed to look like THAT'. Keeps me reigned in.

@Braden-Hallett I like the move of the light bulb! I'm wondering if you need her large right hand. Couldn't it be under the covers? Maybe There is a good reason to have it there and I'm just missing it.

@Braden-Hallett I can't help but imagine that she is the farmer's wife (with her carving knife) and that this plan by the mice is fated to go disastrously wrong giving us the origin story of the three blind mice

@Braden-Hallett this so reminds me of the Tom and Jerry cartoon, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse (1947), only in this case, the mice are in charge of the poisonous concoction, and not the cat! Hehe! I like how you've handled the two planes, above and below, and even the contrast between the two. As always, your character expressions are priceless! Great composition!

Gonna put it away until tonight and then maybe make a few small tweaks. It's at the point where adding too much will ruin it. But I'm liking it as it is

@Braden-Hallett Great as always. I particularly like the repetition of the rats' color in the person's face. It helps tie the two halves together. I don't know why you always say that you have difficulty with color because I think you do a great job with it!

It's still a roll of the dice or the flip of a coin whether my colours will work out or not. I need better odds than that
