Today's progress. Staring to get there I think. Still some colour to add, then shadows and highlights. Probably more texture. Comments very welcome - still time left to make changes.

Oh dear! After a much needed night of sleep I now see that the poor girls seem like they're zombies or something here

Here's a reworked attempt. I'm hoping to create a few pieces with these three / this story to put in my portfolio. Do you think the sketchiness here is too far away from the style of the main piece for people to think the images belong together? I can smooth it out but I kinda like it and might prefer to make the main piece more sketchy instead.

Oh man, I didn't realise there's been a time change in the US so just missed the crit arena!

I logged in just in time to see the winners (congrats!) and catch a glimpse that mine was one of the ones that almost made it to the top 16 - anyone remember what they said about it?

@neschof, If I remember correctly, they liked your concept & the style. The advice was that it's all about the same value, so if you zoom out—nothing in particular stands out.

So something to work on might be: Emphasis (pick a focal point and make it stand out in some way, such as contrast, color, size, etc.)

Congratulations on getting a mention! I think they said there were ~~100~~ 108 submissions this time, so getting an appearance at all is a big compliment!

That's too bad about the time change mishap! I live in the US & don't like the time change either.
I accidentally missed the Feb. one, so I was happy to see this one.
