I've heard at every conference I've attended that editors love to receive postcards. A couple of them said they don't want to see the same one twice and prefer to see something new about every quarter. Does anyone do this? If so, how many postcards do you send in a mailing? I know it's much less expensive the more you buy, but if you have 500 printed, what do you do with the extras? I sure don't have 500 editors on my list. I would really love to hear any thoughts on this -- thanks!

I sent a zip file and then I sent separate folders to one of the committee who said she could put them into one PDF. We'll see how that turns out. Thank you! I think it was sent as a google doc. I don't know what I did 🙂

I'd love suggestions for how to make this better. Less is more, I think, so I have only one snake as @Kevin-Longueil suggested and added some ragged edges. I changed the position of the foot back to an earlier version "to put the viewer in the situation," as suggested by an instructor. The sharp pointy lines of the snake are intentional, as I'm trying to convey threat. But, they might be too straight? I've also intentionally cropped the image like this to create the feeling of "how big IS this snake?" Too many shapes of reflection on the water? I don't know. I can't tell if I'm moving closer or further away.

Thanks for pointing that out. That was one of the big reasons I wanted to reboot this class and to do it on paper to show that this stuff is approachable with just a pencil and a sheet of copy paper. Thanks!

Nope, but it's the necessary first step. Just because drawing is fun, or it's your passion, doesn't mean it's not going to be hard to master it. Glad you brought that up too.

@aska ha! Ha! I was trying to make it look like it was coming from around his head but...I see what you mean. Might scrap the whole thing. I don't really feel good about it yet. I should have taken more time to plan things out....not sure. Thanks though! Going to work on a new plan today and see what I end up with.
