If you have a subscription to Adobe CC you get a free portfolio site and there are different templates to choose from. It can be linked to a custom domain too. I use Photoshop through a monthly subscription so that's what I have done and it's very easy. The link is www.myportolio.com Oh and it will also link to your Behance account if you have one and auto update both sites.

@chip-valecek Thanks Chip. I have a lot to learn! I usually send photos to facebook with my phone so never set anything-don't even know how. It just happens to work and if I download them from there they work here too. I'm hoping that when I take my 2D Design class this fall, I might learn some more of this business of pixels and dpi etc. 🙂 I am still a novice with GIMP so far and I have clipstudio pro-not sure how that works for exporting, etc. either.

I forgot about the cat and the fiddle. It was just a doodle but I like it. I often like my doodles better than som eothe things do. They're more fun to do because I don't worry about the results so much. Just have fun. The boy with the ants was also a doodle but it also is a practice for another story I have about a boy who eats ants. The grannys I've been doing are to get me in grandma mode for my Granny Can't Find Her Glasses story. I did some prety funny ones to day because I fell asleep at the drawing table! They're pretty scarey.

I think the main thing about the boat picture was that it was too busy, motion was going from right to left instead of left to right. I don't remember them nentioning flatness but they might have. I had very little tiem to work on it. All the orangish color came from old masking fluid I used an dI had to try and make it work. I did like the picture myself but....it's okay. I like doing underwater paintings with bright colors.

I'll try and post some that are allowed because they are somehow the right size. Some will need to be rephotographed or touched up, etc. I was thinking of putting spots of monsters on one page if I can figure it out and maybe the same with some of the grannys I've been doing.

There's a much better version of the girl with the baby and stroller but I need to figure out how to resize it and stuff later. Some of these were done very quickly and probably need work but I don't know how much time I can spend since I still have to finish the dummy with one image to completion. Might not be able to fit in the First Look prompt that's due Sept. 1st. I'll see what I can get done.

I'm trying to work out reordering chickens and the whole deskunking thing. Image 1 I had to make some chicken changes due to rearranging of page order. I also had to make some changes on my rough "cleaning the smelly chicken page because I had left out a chicken that needed to be there and had a chicken that wasn't introduced yet (the one on the arm) so...since I really liked the chicken on the arm with the hose, I introduced her before the chicken cleaning instead of after...if that all makes any sense. Here are the words for this portion of the story:

Uncle carl has a chicken on his belly.
A chicken on his belly?
Yes, a chicken on his belly.
Can you tell me why that chicken is so smelly? (there is a spot of some skunks walking off on the previous page)

Uncle Carl has a chicken on his arm.
A chicken on his arm?
yes, a chicken on his arm
It seems it has a nice idea for freshening up the farm! (just changed this line to go with the pictures...does it sound okay?)

No text on the chicken washing page.

Also, need to add the fly in there again......

learning more digital editing techniques would sure make this faster!

I am also racking my brain for the Narrative Art Award... I love that it is meant to be sequential but the 3 characters and 3 acts in 3 panels is certainly going to be a challenge.

Thanks for the shout out Tyson. It's awesome that you are steering yourself towards positivity in the face of disappointment. That's a really important lesson to learn as an artist, otherwise we'd all just give up- and many do give up.

Even if you didn't place in the contest, it still inspired a great piece out of you and I hope you are still very proud of it. Not everyone is able to pull off the expression and the dynamic nature of that illustration. It was a memorable piece.

@tessw I have someone critiquing it on the whole and I also have two writing critique groups and an editor friend looking the story over. With all the help I'm getting, hopefully, it will turn out really well. I'm trying to write things and keep that going so I always have some more to do, especially if I need a breather from one project. I'm kind of excited about another little story about a Granny that I have in the docket. I have two lullabyes I wrote about 25 years ago for my kids-another friend is helping me with notation so that they can be played and sung (my last little project was a lullabye), and a couple more rhyming ones that I might need to work harder on to be ready. One is a boy who eats ants and the other is about a girl who wants to live on treats. I have to learn to draw better so I can keep up though! 😉 So much to learn and so little time. I might need to stop after this one is done and try to catch up with my art skills and learn digital so I can finish my books before I get too old and die..ha!

Hi,

I wanted to try out a simpler style for doing some T-shirt designs. I thought of a few ideas based on my parents black lab.

For this one I wanted to capture the moment when you think he is all curled up and sleeping but as soon as you move his eyes open just to check nothing exciting is happening.

So my main ideas where suspicious/excited dog, simple and bright colours.
