I think maybe the process you choose have a lot to do with the style you end up with.It will feel very wrong to start with gray scale and place the color over if your style is very loose, and brush stroke are a big part of the feel of the painting (like March Bucci). But if your painting is very tight and detailed, brush stokes plays less important role, maybe using multiply/color layer blending mode is a way to go to start off with the color.

@davidhohn Thank you--it's most generous of you to add how to do this in Procreate. I look forward to giving is a whirl for this week's lesson. (I'm one of the lucky participants in "Dynamic Expressions."

Hi @StudioLooong , yes, when opening in a browser, it looks good. Thank you for the advice, I've looked all over adobe forums, but nowhere found a specific solution. I will try to post there as well.

@smceccarelli LOL! That is an AWESOME video! Love it! It definitely is a great way to show people who don’t understand our side of it. It’s a business.

@Coreyartus Wow, thank you for taking the time to give such a thorough answer. It was very helpful and you are right that part of the problem is that I am paralyzed by all the choices. Getting into designing my own brushes feels like it just expands the already overwhelming possibilities but you have confirmed what I have suspected - I need to really start playing with everything until I get the look I want. And of course, part of the issue is that I’m still not sure what exactly the look is that I want!

@Jason-Bowen If you look into the new AI Samsung Centre is working on. In the not so distant future, you may only need to draw one frame and animate a whole sequence. They made a cool animation with the Mona Lisa painting. It's mostly just animated faces but shouldn't be too long, and your green goblin rider could be galloping along with her hair flowing in the wind!

The whole AI animation thing is both scary and exciting at the same time.

@Glenda-Rogers Thanks, Glenda, that's very encouraging. I'll join you folks and contribute what I can, but it's clear to me that the road of my educational journey is just beginning. I'm not really embarrassed by it, it's just that I am at a different point than I think most of you are. I'll gladly share what I can. LOL! I am really looking forward to meeting some other SoCal SVSers!!

I’m not going to have time to finish this. I’m too wrapped up in my picture book I’m creating. Apologies for this half-heartedness. If anyone would like to finish it, they’re very welcome 🤣 . The aim was to create an image that showed the affection and generosity of all artists on this site. Obviously there’s a slight negative connotation with a trawler, but I’ve never been one to let details get in the way of a good image... if that’s what it is. The idea was to show all members volunteering their images of mermaids. I think I got drawing people fatigue!!
Anyway, hope you like. Welcome all and any feedback on the concept and where it was heading.

You might want to consider looking for Fry and Dolch high frequency words and the Dolch 95 common nouns.

@Gabriel-Lung no i like that’s what you’re going for, he’s able to keep composed in such an intense situation. I think i mean more that the feet and sword are pointing in a direction thats taking away from the scene.
