Our SVS Virtual Studio FEBRUARY 🙃2021
-
I’ve been trying to change my style to fit the children’s book market. They look similar but the approach was very different. I like them both but the second one was more fun to make

-
@donnamakesart Which one is marketed towards children? The one that's more pink on the right?
-
I'm all caught up in the AMFIBUARY drawing challenge. On the side I try to explore different brushes and render techniques – so far strictly applied to tiny turtle doodles. :-]

-
@Michael-Angelo-Go
probably up to the art agents and publishers to decide haha. But I would assume they can both work since the people I’m aping are doing published works
-
I have been waiting for February virtual studio to post my prop class assignment because I made characters and story for it (though a book and a drink got replace by a plant lols). And now that it's here, I can check it off my list so thank you, thank you and hugs for your new year @burvantill .

-
@PieterVanDerBeek These are great! The second one is my favorite, he's got such swag.
-
So last month I tried this painting a different way and it didn’t work out. So attempt number two! Using Will Terry’s dry brushing lesson. Also, I can’t believe it, but even trying to be so careful, I still made a huge design mistake. In my sketch, there were two plants and then randomly as I transferred it to the big version I switched out plant number two for fruit. Fine except then it looked like she was pouring water into the fruit! So I changed the position of the water pitcher but it’s all a bit awkward now
. So... lessons. But I’m still going to work towards finishing it because I’m learning how to take time and push a piece all the way
.

-
@donnamakesart I like the first one because the colours help it stand out and the edges look more refined.
-
@ambiirae theses are lovely!
-
@Heather-Boyd love the style

-
@KayPotter thank you -it's been a long time coming.

-
Rabbit wranglin'

-
The yellow balloon trial.
Apparently I am still inspired by the snowy yetis from the last two months.
Page dummy.
-
Part way through another spread. This is probably my favorite one from the book

-
I'll soon resume work on illustrating a book that I had to put on hold for a few months. Lately, I've mostly done stuff to practice colors and thing like that more - and took to drawing robots/robot-like creatures.

-
more colour thumbz (comps?)

-
I’ve slowly been putting together a book over the last year or so and have started streaming for accountability (and you feel like a magician when you creating something friends don’t know how to do, that’s definitely part of it). It’s an alphabet book about bugs eating breakfast. This is a too detailed sketch that I started having too much fun with.
“Jarfly eats their Johnny Cakes”

-
Teaching my students to paint trees has inspired me.

-
@chrisaakins Nice foliage.

-
I hated it this morning but looking at it now, it’s not bad haha. International Book Giving Day is on Feb 14 apparently
