It’s been a while.

The last 6 months have been stressful. I had to stop working on my craft and focus on family and work. While I stopped drawing, I tried to study composition, the human anatomy, colour theory, but that at times was impossible. Life got in the way. Right now I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and starting to get back into it when I can. Recently my wife gave me a challenge draw something you would want to hang on your wall. So I drew this, a robot inside a mans head. I really like old futurism/sci-fi art work and 1960’s computer technology.
Any critique is welcome. -
Hello! I'd like to preface this with, "I'm really new to svs and also not as far along in my drawing adventure as most of the other folks here." Anyways, it's great to hear you've gotten back to drawing! There's nothing quite like that feeling of rediscovery. Like you, I really like the retro-futuristic style you have going here. The retro analogue equipment and large buttons, the futuristic rounded windows and sleek but simple forms and textures, it all meshes really well to communicate a certain time period's frame of mind. The only thing that popped out to me as less attractive is the inside of the mouth. For some reason, my brain really wants an opening there like a mail slot or something. This is the only thing that really stuck out to me as going against the design though and it may totally only be me o take it with a grain of salt of course. All in all, I think this is a super cool concept and the style is so very "it" if that makes any sense. It is very cohesive and conveys itself strongly. I'd love to see more designs in this style and it would be so fun to experiment with a retro-futuristic color palette too! Thanks for sharing.

would experiment with separating the outline of the head and the scene. see attached image.

Tone down the lined shading on the computer *Top Left
-
Vary the linework to bring the computer room forward.
I hope that helps.
