@NessIllustration I am ABSOLUTELY overthinking it ๐Ÿ™‚ Letting go and just creating art is definitely something I need to work on.

I think I'm less worried about needing to have exactly the same look (though that'd be nice since my next project is a graphic novel kinda dealy). It's more that as small changes and processes accumulate things still don't look 'right' to me (which, I'm sure, is me overthinking it ๐Ÿ™‚ )

      Thanks for the feedback!

Idk if theres a significant enough of a difference to impact the picture for better or worse honestly. Either way you go it feels affective. Maybe if the textured strokes contrasted more with the material? Like i can tell theres texture but idk if it makes any difference in impact to me.

Iโ€™m trying to get into the habit of asking myself, how big is this image gonna be and are these textures gonna make a difference.

They all look good to me

@Braden-Hallett Gotta agree with @Aleksey ... We artists are really good at overdoing it. Sometimes I can spend 15 minutes trying to decide between 2 shades of blue, and they're so similar the only way I can even tell they're different is because Photoshop says so ^^'''' I think we gotta let go of things that don't make a significant difference..

I personally like the option A design.
is there any particular option that takes more time and effort than the others? it might be an efficiency problem instead of a style problem. You might have a tight deadline...

Oh man... I'm still learning so much. I tend to over-render like a madman. That being said, I like how bright B is, but i like the level of detail of C.

I think itโ€™s really interesting that youโ€™re playing around with this. Iโ€™m already a big fan of your work, but I think youโ€™re right - adding graininess gives the work more of an oraganic, down to earth feeling. Up to this point, everything has had a nice gloss to it(which btw Is stunning). But I do think this treatment in the right places can warm up your current work. The treatment of texture on his face is perfect - it doesnโ€™t distract at all, but gives the piece uniformity(is that a word?).
The arms feel a little dirty though, maybe use the technique a little more subtly on flesh(like you did with the face).

@Aleksey Thanks! Not seeing much of a difference is also good to know ๐Ÿ™‚ Means I can kinda choose which one I (marginally) like better

@NessIllustration Very true. The potential for analysis paralysis with photoshop is overwhelming sometimes. And that ever so slight change in blue hue is important, darnit! ๐Ÿ™‚

@josegalue25 No, no great difference in time. If anything option A has more potential for being quicker (a bit) since I think it blends a bit better with basic shading.

Good idea, though. If one were significantly faster it'd be a no-brainer ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd have to agree with most that A is working really well. The grain is noticeable, but not distracting. Almost like how we can always see our nose, but our brain blocks it out. I can see the heavier grain, but only if I'm looking.

All three look great though, keep up the good work!

@kaitlinmakes Thanks! Organic and down-to-earth is good, I think. I'll have to make sure to remember to give the face and other 'smooth' areas a softer touch ๐Ÿ™‚

I like A and C - I guess I don't like B because the hair is lighter (high contrast) and the graininess is more evident and it's like dirt/particles of sand stuck in his hair. Hair wise when it is dark I would go with A because C looks too glossy if you want to go with more of a grain. I like boots in C but like the belt and hold the pants up straps in all three versions. The shirt in A and I am just getting lost in liking certain details haha.

@Braden-Hallett is it possible to just run texture along terminator/halftone area only? They all look very nice to me but I would vote for A if I had to pick one.
