@Judy-Elizabeth-Wilson this is really sweet and recognizable as your style, I love it!

Made a meerkat unicorn for #junicorn.

The art of my exact moment
Getting ready to daylight.
My moonlight hours ...
The idea is this is going to be the under the sea background and will digitally draw the rest of the illustration over the top.
There is a third piece. My mind is going to team them up crop them move them around. We will see how it turns out.
And yes, my space is messy. My vanity, studio and laundry room are all the same space.
-
@Coley Thanks.
I love that you can recognize my art! That is so good to hear.
-
Done!! But I'm gonna do it again. LOL! I like how this turned out, but it took me way too long because I was being precious with it. If this were a page for an actual book job, I would be soooooo far behind schedule.
-
Like a giant flying capybara
-
There's honestly so much talent on these boards! @burvantill your illustration is just amazing. Is this digital or traditional watercolour? Anyhow, here's some insects on a migration with gouache. Enjoy!
-
@Braden-Hallett
I was looking around for those monkeys...lols than I got it.
-
Is it hot in here, or is it just me?
-
@Heather-Boyd Giving brushes and scritchings, of course
@JerrySketchyArt Just blowin' off steam?
-
@NelsonYiap This is such an adorable idea! All their little expressions are so cute.
-
@burvantill I like the hint of the wolf.
-
@Sara-Hickman Thankyou =)x
-
@NelsonYiap Thank you! It is traditional. I scanned it and did just a tiny color correction on the sunlight in Photoshop. I think my water had a bit of blue in it and contaminated the yellow I was laying down. Then I placed it it Illustrator with the text.

@animatosoor Thank you
I like the pill bugs the best though haha, just their curiosity was so fun to paint

Not many SVS OG's in here but back in the day I started a project with my kids. It was more of a story that I still think about at least once or twice a week. It is called Midnight Monsters.
Basically two brothers born and raised by the local witch. When they were teens, Lark began to play with black magic while Willy followed his mother down the path of white magic and healing. Lark became so unhinged that his mother's final curse was to banish him into the dark forest. There he would remain a prisoner and not be able to hurt anyone. 60 years later Old man Willy owns an antique shop and Lark is still trying to escape the curse of his mother. Lark is able to conjure and send Loom's into the town to steal the dreams of the local kids. The more dreams he is able to capture the more powerful he will become and will be able to break the curse and escape.
So getting back into this project in hopes to develop it into a graphic novel or something. Here is a Loom. There are hundreds of these guys. They stand about 3 feet tall, will climb on top of you while you sleep. They stick their tongues around your neck and suck your dreams out.
The only defense are the Midnight Monsters. They are monsters grown out of the imaginations of the local kids. Old Man Willy has a jar with a magic worm that creates sand. This sand is given to the children and they sprinkle it on the ground outside their house. At midnight when the moon shines down on the sand, their monster is born. The monster protects the kids from the Looms.
When the sun rises the Looms that are not defeated return to the Dark Forest and the Midnight Monsters turn back into sand.
Thoughts on the story? Should I develop it more? The thought is that kids could submit their monster idea. I have a bunch already done from my kids and their friends. I will re-do them in my much improved style and technique.
-
@Chip-Valecek Cool idea. Do the Midnight Monsters need the moonlight to spawn, like werewolf style? Great way to get kids involved by inventing the defenses.
-
@JerrySketchyArt yes moon light is needed but it doesn't need to be a full moon. Maybe on the full moon the midnight monsters become mischievous, like gremlins.
-
I like seeing everyone's projects.
I'm working on the manuscript for a graphic novel. Not much to show but I am enjoying the process. The story is about a group of orphans raised by stray dogs in a scrapyard. It's a fantasy adventure in a magitech type world.

@karolifo great concept!
