After a busy weekend I am back to lessons. These are from the fundamental drawing class. It’s kinda nice to go back to basics and learn a different approach. I didn’t understand what he wanted us to do for the worksheets so sheet 1 is more developed. I was just supposed to draw basic shapes😊

@Meta Thanks, I didn't really think about people not liking the pattern combo - I would totally wear this blue floral with leopard print 😁

The course is illustrating picture books, taught by Sarah Mcintyre via CBCreative. There's some discussion and help with technique but it's mostly about getting stuff done and creating / finishing tasks in the short time frame. Very good accountability. Last week we made complete little books.

Weird. For some weird reason it’s coming in sideways, it doesn’t look sideways in my photos, I guess it’s a sideways day🤪

So this week I am working on drawing human legs, feet and gestures. Last image has nudity due to practising gestures just to let you know upfront. I used a combination of body and leg references found on Pinterest and Proko poses. And yes my gesture sketches are sometimes more contour but I am happy nonetheless. In order except gestures did yesterday and today. Thanks,

              Drawing fundamentals ✅
I’m glad I did this class. It gave me a different perspective on how to see the things I’m drawing.
Next, Gesture! I’m looking forward to this one. 😃

Huuuge program but sounds like a lot of fun 🙂 I'll be joining too !! Thank you for putting all of that together !!
Edit: did the 1st sheet + a study of a crow using his techniques. My biggest struggle is proportions, any feedback welcome!

Drew a couple cuties from my Pinterest board. I meant to do more. I think I get too focused on detail and need to focus on shapes instead. I probably would’ve got more done. Oh well, I guess it all helps because it’s practice right?

Brief but good introduction to legs mainly women’s. Nudity in the last two. Gestured and Feet better improved. Used references for all.

Next week I’m working on hips and torsos so legs will probably show up again.

You guys rock with the gestures, I see it improving your work a lot ! I’m a bit behind still on the drawing fundamentals class, finished the second sheet today. I definitly have trouble with getting the head the right size.

Less than last week at this time. Not sure how to approach with out digging too deep in anatomy which I have not scheduled it in. But enjoying the 3D rib cage model, so I will continue to work on that.

I drew heads today. I started with an Andrew Loomis book, got confused right away and switched over to Proko YouTube and he was able to explain the Loomis technique so I could understand it.
                                    B4DC7D56-8ACA-4F41-9CD9-B53A683D8A04.jpeg
This evening I drew children again. My little girls are still looking like preteens. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong there.

Then I did a bit of the posing class and impressed myself by rotating this boy and having it look prettying okay. Lol

@burvantill I’ll remember to look up proko for heads again. Now I don’t know about your preteen problem, the only thing I noticed was the middle girl has a lot larger fishy lips compared to yours.

@burvantill hi, i think your kids look like preteens is because of the size of the head in proportion to the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. for example if you look at your reference image, the kids’ eyes are closer to the edge of their faces coz their heads are smaller. While compared to the eyes in your drawings, there is now a larger gap between the eyes and the edge of the face. So yeah, I think it’s just the size of the head in proportion to the face that’s a bit off. I hope this was helpful.
