Huuuge program but sounds like a lot of fun
I'll be joining too !! Thank you for putting all of that together !!
Edit: did the 1st sheet + a study of a crow using his techniques. My biggest struggle is proportions, any feedback welcome!

Drew a couple cuties from my Pinterest board. I meant to do more. I think I get too focused on detail and need to focus on shapes instead. I probably would’ve got more done. Oh well, I guess it all helps because it’s practice right?
-
Brief but good introduction to legs mainly women’s. Nudity in the last two. Gestured and Feet better improved. Used references for all.
Next week I’m working on hips and torsos so legs will probably show up again.
-
It was a gestures day -
@burvantill looks good when I tilted my head to the left lols
-
You guys rock with the gestures, I see it improving your work a lot ! I’m a bit behind still on the drawing fundamentals class, finished the second sheet today. I definitly have trouble with getting the head the right size.
-
@Heather-Boyd For some weird reason my photos are loading sideways... obviously
. I didn’t have the patience yesterday to try and figure out that puzzle.
-
@Heather-Boyd I reloaded them. They came in straight this time. My phone gremlin must be sleeping in.
-
Less than last week at this time. Not sure how to approach with out digging too deep in anatomy which I have not scheduled it in. But enjoying the 3D rib cage model, so I will continue to work on that.
-
@Heather-Boyd Anatomy is huge. I totally understand your dilemma. I want to get better at it but I don’t need to be Norman Rockwell just yet
.

I drew heads today. I started with an Andrew Loomis book, got confused right away and switched over to Proko YouTube and he was able to explain the Loomis technique so I could understand it.
This evening I drew children again. My little girls are still looking like preteens. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong there.
Then I did a bit of the posing class and impressed myself by rotating this boy and having it look prettying okay. Lol
I’m going to load the process vid to my Instagram -
@burvantill I’ll remember to look up proko for heads again. Now I don’t know about your preteen problem, the only thing I noticed was the middle girl has a lot larger fishy lips compared to yours.
-
@Heather-Boyd LOL. She's really blowing them out isn't she. I got a tip from @ShannonB that I quickly tried this morning and i'm getting closer to their age appearance.
-
@burvantill hi, i think your kids look like preteens is because of the size of the head in proportion to the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. for example if you look at your reference image, the kids’ eyes are closer to the edge of their faces coz their heads are smaller. While compared to the eyes in your drawings, there is now a larger gap between the eyes and the edge of the face. So yeah, I think it’s just the size of the head in proportion to the face that’s a bit off. I hope this was helpful.
-
@Nyrryl-Cadiz yes thankyou. all advice is welcome!
-
Thanks,

@Heather-Boyd LOOKING GOOD

Working through the Posing Characters at the same time as trying to find the head proportions. Heads are tough. I went back and redrew a page from my inktober story and am much happier with it. Not as stiff,
thanx to the gestures class. But I redrew his little head 10 times! LOL. I wanted to do it on paper because I think using digital has made me less confident in my drawing skills. UNDO will be my downfall if I'm not careful. @Heather-Boyd , you are killing the anatomy.
PS. I am noticing a long neck trend in my drawing of heads. hmmmm. -
@burvantill your trace over sketches are nice, got some of my own to do this week for the arm bones.
-
Finished up Stylizing Characters class, pretty helpful how to read other people’s styles. Kept at arm anatomy and the elbow, quite cool how we are built. Not as much done as hoped, but a lot of struggle with my father’s depression has left me quite bleak.
I had thought of doing an advent Christmas challenge, but I want to try to finish up some classes undone and work on a few dream portfolio works. After all it’s christmas, no need for extra stress.
