@Braden-Hallett
I love this. I first thought of my story about the fish and burning house story, I’d use similar colours like you’ve done here.
-
@Heather-Boyd Yet another reason to study theatre lighting. Their colour choices in general are also bang on
-
@Braden-Hallett It is really good idea to study light this way. Theater sets of course.
-
@xin-li Not so great for natural light. But awesome for artificially lit scenarios (and knowing kinda where the lights are)

I’m getting closer to one style I like with the addition of the pencil on top. I’m heading back to my astronaut character concept so I’d like to slide the character in for nightfall. It will be more simple so I can progress through this application process.
I find I like the line work and set up of how story is told in comic form but find the applying colour hard and cold, so I like to play with watercolour, gouache, pencil, pencil crayon, pencil pastels mix to create a softer approach. So I’m excited. Tomorrow I will post my character concepts. I will need to later refresh myself of objects in perspective class which I never took.
-
@Heather-Boyd really beautiful!

@carolinedrawing
Thank you
-
I'm gonna move the paintbrush to the kid's hand and put some paint on his shirt. Better story that way
-
Playing around with Procreate watercolor brushes. This is as close to this month’s “Nightfall” prompt as I’m going to get
-
I’ve replaced with the updated version which also has thumbnails of my night fall work. Minus his LEGO feet lols not entirely intentional, I used two references to get him a 3/4 view pose which is very new to me and I will start Objects in Perspective class after a review in March in How To Draw Everything. Thanks,

As posted on Instagram,
My astronaut spaceman WIP concept consists of
the helmet shapes I see in my head and the 3 head ration, the rest were parts I found and combined from Pinterest. Still in process.Thanks,

Kitty portrait in progress.

Earlier this month I ended up doing a weekend reduction lino print workshop when a friend couldn't make it. It was super fun and now I've got together some simple materials to have another go at home. Stuck trying to think of a not too ambitious design now!
-
@neschof
I loved Lino. I still have some prints from college I need to combine with my process now just to have them finished interms of what I do now. Simple design can be tricky but I remembered cutting it out can be just as tricky, because one wrong move and you may need to rethink, alter and continue forward.
-
@Heather-Boyd it's weird because it seems like so much effort for such a simple end result that at first I was thinking "why wouldn't you just create the design digitally and then print it" but having done it there is something very particular about the texture and thickness of the ink layers you would never get in a print.

I squeezed in a submission for the SCBWI Draw This prompt (decided to start on it 48 hours before submissions closed ). Then took some time today to turn it into a mock cover.
-
Playing with final assignment props course. Should have kept things more simple and less extreme angle. Can’t figure out the table leg, even with a grid in place. Will know for next time!
-
@neschof FUN!!!
-
@burvantill it really was!

My monthly progress: cough cough hack cough man I wish I could draw cough cough hack. The flu ain't no joke this year. Y'all get your flu shots!
