      We made it! Barely. =)x

What’s everyone working on right now? Any big plans for the new year?

Imagine you are walking through a studio silently looking over people’s shoulders at their work. This is NOT a place for critiques. You may applaud, encourage, ooh and ah only.

Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in 3 different children's books, all in different stages of done-ness and all for small publishers or self-publishers. (This is a sneak peek at one of them.)

Big plan for this year is to get ready to submit (and hopefully submit) to bigger publishers.

"and there stepped from behind the large rocks the strangest man the travelers had ever seen. He was quite short and stout, standing no more than three feet high and had a big, oversized head, which was smooth on the top and as flat as a hammer. The head was supported by a thick, long, fat neck full of many layers of wrinkles. But the body had no arms at all, not even stubs."

Still working on Oz portrait redo's when i can - the Hammer-Head has come a long way from the original sketch but you can still see the resemblance - there have been a few iterations before this but i think i have finally got something worth keeping with this one - i feel like this may be a new best for me - maybe work on the scarecrow next..thanks for looking!

@Braden-Hallett Wow, to me, this concept of school kids in the throws of their make-believe world is so well done here.

You let a kid watch, like, ONE episode of Game of Thrones... ONE episode.

Hi @Braden-Hallett, your comics are great! I love the character designs and expressions you seem to master with ease. I’m working on expression sheets; do you recommend any books, references?

Thanks man 🙂 These days I don't use much reference for facial expressions (though I'm sure I should). I do, however, tend to make the face I'm illustrating as I draw it. Which makes for some very awkward coffee shop sketching...

I used to reference this book once in a while, and I'm sure it'll come in handy again someday, though.

Best wishes for the new year everyone! :-]

I'm currently trying to wrap up @shanehunt's vehicle design class (which I think is super awesome). This weird hybrid is part of the penultimate assignment: merging two boats using reference.

@Gabby-Correia really cute! If the character is anything to go by, this looks like it'll be a really fun book to illustrate. Great job!

Wow, there are so many great pieces here! It's definitely making me want to step up my game!

Since I couldn't do the Inktober prompts that I created for 2020 due to an injury, I've been trying to go back and redo them. They're based off of iconic themes and character types of the 1920s (I made the list back when I thought 2020 was going to be a great year, haha). This one was supposed to be Day 4: The "It" Girl (based off of Clara Bow).

I've been experimenting with my new iPad and Adobe Fresco...I'm in love with both!
