Thank you again @Braden-Hallett for putting this together. The two classes that I feel like I have learned the most from are the ones that you organized on the forum. It makes me realize how much I need structure, daily drawing, and assignments. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, BIG thanks
You're most welcome I'm you're getting a lot out of these run-throughs! I get at least as much out of them as well.
Also, I am most jealous of your texture work
-
@demotlj oh no! the trick is you lay down a "road" for the scales to follow in pencil, then quickly go in and make some scales. Nice and loose. The best area for it I think is the eye the rest was just filler.

Here are my texture forms.

@chrisaakins haha mouse

@burvantill @TessaW Thank you! ๏ธ

@Erin-Cortese this is so neat. Beautiful textures. Also love the typography for TEXTURE.
-
@burvantill Thank you so much.
@Braden-Hallett Thank you. I really do not know where I am going to take this style/technique next. I do not think I have allowed myself to paint so loosely before. Right now I just paint one picutre at time, building up quantity of work before figuring out where they belong to. I am consider incorprate watercolor, or playing with colored ink. -
@Braden-Hallett That is high praise, thank you
-
@xin-li Thank you, I had fun with this one!
-
And saw this flower today. Echinacea. How's this for texture?
-
Not very exciting but I have completed the assignment. On to the extra credit.
-
@demotlj these look really good.
-
@chrisaakins Thanks. I hope Braden decides to do the class on light and shadow next because Iโm totally guessing the cast shadows.

@demotlj These are good!!!

I saw a Great Blue Heron in my yard today holding a very fat gopher in his beak. I stood and watched for a few minutes while the heron proceeded to try and shake the little fatty to death and while the little fatties legs were running wildly in hopes of escape. It took a really long time and I had the thought in my head of the gopher looking at the heron with disgust that he couldnโt just finish it already.
-
@chrisaakins These are really good. I like how you did the wood. I was just using lines but your right, there is a texture of grain lines within the wood lines. Nice job
-
@burvantill thanks!
-
@Erin-Cortese wow this is super impressive!
-
@burvantill Whatโs the end of the story? Did the heron actually eat the gopher? And by gopher, do you mean what we mean here in NY by gopher - a woodchuck? I canโt imagine our herons attempting to eat woodchucks. Iโm so intrigued by this story.
