@StudioLooong @burvantill I felt similar for January's prompt. I spent soooooooo much time on December's prompt but didn't make it in, either. Sometimes your concept lands, and sometimes it doesn't 🙂

Workin' on a book dummy is also a good thing to do. Whatever keeps you making more content, right?

I’m going with this thumbnail. Nightfall & Secret Admirer.
BTW, it’s still called procrastination when you work on something, and you SHOULD BE working on something else. I’m trying to trick myself, but I’m not stupid, I know what I’m doing. I’m avoiding, that’s what. I’m still doing it! BAH! 🤪

Got to do a superhero doodle of a coworker who retired this week. She loves cooking and is famous around here for her albondigas soup. This was printed at 4’X3’ on foam core, then cut with a jig saw. Then, at the event I was asked to do a caricature of someone else I don’t even know who is retiring next week. It’s funny because I’ve never felt like I could do caricatures, and know some really talented artists who do it for a living. I think people just like to see themselves as cartoons 😉

@StudioLooong your piece for the January contest was really strong. I totally remember it and I have forgotten a lot of them or who did them. I thought it was awesome. This was the first time I ever made the cut and I do remember feeling disappointed on the other occasions I didn't make the cut. Especially one time. Then I just figured best to keep on keeping on and not feel bad. It will happen in time! Just like @burvantill said!
That being said I think it's totally normal to feel frustrated and disappointed. It's the ones who keep coming back who rock it in the end.💪

Working on two wizard lamps for props course. Hey, also my first project on procreate 😀.
Today I ordered my new iPad case and some of those paper like screen protectors. Super excited. Oh the nerdiness!

Can't share anything I'm working on, but I took a short break and made some VDay cards for our work exchange.

More work on a lamp for props course. Trying to work out the structure in perspective from 3/4 and above on the one on the left. The one on the right is my earlier version.

@demotlj I love the 2nd one better : it gives a softness that the ink work does not have. The pencil you used seems just fine! But I let the pros to assess it. Have you tried doing the lines in watercolour pencils? It could be nice as well.

@Julia I went over the pencil one again using a brown color pencil instead of a 4B pencil and like it better. I think I will try the watercolor pencils too. So many choices!

I didn't post anything earlier this month (I usually try to get something up on the 2nd day) as I didn't really have anything to contribute. But tonight I just let go and blissfully doodled. I used a reference pic off Pixabay, and sorta just meandered my stylus across the surface of my iPad until I thought it was done. I probably followed the reference image too closely, as it was sorta just copying, but I think sometimes there's a value to using drawing to just let go... It was very zen, actually. No pressure, no plan, no precision, no procedures, no purpose--just playing. I love to draw while listening to some of my favorite drawing music or a movie I've seen a million times so it isn't distracting and play it in the background. I can't listen to tutorials or books or things that require too much attention. This was relaxing for me tonight. Thought I'd share.
