Hey everyone on SVS! I just really need some advice, does this look professional and good to you guys? I don’t have photoshop or anything, so I’m tryna do my best in procreate, which is exceptional I guess for what I do. I’m an aspiring illustrator and comic book artist. Is there anything I could work in? Thank you guys!

@phoenix-yip I think the rendering and colors look really good and professionally done. Especially the last one you posted. As far as composition goes, I think a couple of things come into play. First, I don't know what I am looking at. Is this a person with a mask? A robot? I think in the context of a story that would not matter but as a stand alone piece in a portfolio it might be an issue. Same for the object looking over at him in the bottom right hand corner. Is that an ally? His nemesis? A random piece of equipment?
If the 2nd figure is important to the story I would move everything up on the page because it feels a little jammed up at the bottom. If he is not, I would remove him and the composition looks great, giving a really good sense of wide open space.

I hope that helps. I am still working on my comic skills personally, but as an art teacher I have gotten pretty good at helping others who are better than me. 🙂

@chrisaakins trust me I’m not better than you 😂. Thanks so much for the advice! It is a part of a comic I’m making, but I think you’re right because I also want it to be stand alone. Thanks a lot!
