I just saw an announcement looking for artists to work on parks in the Sacramento area! (Southeast of Sacramento, bordering on Elk Grove area)

I've always thought it would be exciting to work on this kind of project.

The proposals are due by 12:00 pm on Sep 11, 2023, so that's not a lot of time to plan a project. Artists or teams of artists can apply for one, or all of the projects.

They are painting basketball courts, a park restroom wall, fence panels for a dog park, & a bike/pedestrian tunnel in various parks.

I have loved reading and making comics and graphic novels since I was little, so I've made it the focus of my research as a graduate student. Right now, I'm gathering responses to a 15-minute survey to learn what people enjoyed about reading graphic novels when they were in middle school. To participate, you need to be 18-32 years old and have enjoyed reading at least one graphic novel in middle school (this can be books like Amulet and Bone, Japanese manga, or even European comics like TinTin). @ksfabian Maybe a stupid question: I'm struggling to picture what a Live Art Performance at an art festival looks like so it's hard to brainstorm ideas for you. Are people walking by all day while you draw and sell your art, or are you scheduled at a certain time for people to come see you "perform" art and is it meant to teach? Anyway, as far as it being digital, if you have a monitor you could hook up to a wacom (can you hook one up to an iPad if you use Procreate?) then the monitor could be facing out so people can see what you're drawing. Whether your teaching how to make comics or doing a live drawing, I agree with your husband about having prints available for sale. Maybe also do up a postcard with website info as a SWAG item to give away. Another thought, there are a LOT of artists that only work traditionally and would be interested in how you draw digitally. So maybe that could be the focus of your performance. You could explain your work flow, how you mimic pencils, pens, paint, how you publish or print your digital art. (Not sure if any of this helped... 😛 But I think it would be exciting for you to put yourself out there.)

I haven't been active much recently on the forums just doing my own stuff but I've been finally getting enough time back to lurk and found @Gary-Wilkinson's post here and I 100% concur and miss it a lot.

Couldn't help but notice July came and went without anything happening (at least that I saw :P). I'm willing to put effort into something.

Now that summer's over it seems like a good time to put some time into it. Maybe a few of us can get into a Discord meeting and brainstorm some ideas and actually formulate a plan?

@Sarah-VanDam Do it! I went last year and the main reason I'm going again (beside seeing my art friends in person) is that I ended up getting work out of it. I'm not necessarily expecting that it will happen again with all the strikes and layoffs but its still a great place to make friends and connections that can help you down the road.
