May the 4th always be with you, especially since I forgot to share here on THE DAY.
I'm going to do another illo that goes with this image. A reality vs fantasy, because in reality Kiddo and Grace are actually play fighting with broom stick handles while their parents look on proudly. =)x
I had fun drawing this and I know that it has a few flaws, but... THAT FLOOR. I mean, I can't stop looking at it. It's perfect. -
This morning my 4 year old made a comment in the car on the way to drop his sister off at school, that a hippopotamus would be a Terrible pet, because he would have to live in our bathtub, and he’d be too big for the bathtub, he’d get stuck, and my son wouldn’t be able to play with him. So I doodled a silly hippo in a bathtub.

@AngelinaKizz Sounds like a good idea for a children's book.

I used to be a coward, like you. -
@AngelinaKizz Children are THE BEST inspiration.

@skillydan and @AngelinaKizz thanks so much for letting me know about this! That's super fun, I'll definitely check it out
-
I’ve not done any Instagram prompts for ages but I saw this one from #FridayDoodleClub and I’ve had this in my head since then. I just had to get it out of there!
The prompt was ‘IMPATIENT FARMING OSTRICH’

@lizardillo That is so great! Made me smile

I know this isn't really storytelling, but I love doing pieces like this - I'm trying to figure out how to do work like this that tells a story
-
@kylebeaudette I absolutely love this, your style is so dang cool.
-
@Kristen-Lango This reminds me of the Ladybug picnic song from Sesame Street...or maybe Electric Company. One of those children's shows on PBS. Great party scene! =)x
-
@burvantill Aw thank you! I just watched that and was instantly put back into my child self - I'm certain I watched that as a kid and it's found it's way into my work, thanks for the throwback
I'm so happy it reminds you of that kind of thing, I'll take being compared to PBS shows any day!!

I've been working on exploring scientific illustration as a career path. My day job has been hard (teacher), especially over the last week as we've had not one...not two...but three or four threats/altercations that resulted in a lot of rumors about kids bringing weapons to school over the last four days. Full time illustration is looking more appealing but it means building up my portfolio more.
So I've been working on these:
