      Hi everyone, ‘tis I! Aleksey! I had a few ideas for this months prompt and also decided to incorporate my homework assignment for next week into it. Kill 2 birds with one stone? And also maybe use this as another portfolio piece. 3 birds? Oh those poor poor birds.. no birds were harmed in the making of this post.
      The focus will be on the 2 old turtles dancing in the foreground, the 2 weirdos dancing in the background are using dance moves stolen from the Peanuts show.

        Moved the characters around a bit might put a table on the right side.

            Very sweet. With the right lighting, this would be an amazing scene.

              @nyrrylcadiz what do you think would work as lighting? i was going to have the bulbs over their head be what lights them.

                Nice idea ! and the weirdos are funny 😃

                speaking of the lighting i think having private atmoshpere would be nice. Darkened room and just a few lights emphasising the two turtles. Just like you dance with somebody and the outer world doesnt exist 🙂 . Just and idea tho maybe you were going for completely different feeling

                  This is such a cute concept. I agree with @Jonas-Zavacky, it feels to me like they are in their own little world so I think either colours or lighting to emphasise that would be good.

                    @Aleksey i would avoid using those little bulbs as your main source of light. What I would suggest is to have a spotlight just outside of your illustration’s frame, shining over your characters. You can still have your little bulbs but I suggest keeping them at a minimum so that they won’t be too attention stealing.

                    Here are some references for you to consider. This Napoleon Bonaparte one is my fave but the colors in that 13 reasons why piece is also great.

                        Looks great so far, my only suggestion would be to add or move the characters over to the right some more. The right side of the image feels empty and the left side feels heavy. Unless you are keeping that area open for text, then I can see why.

                            @Aleksey The first thing that comes to mind that'll fit in that empty space bottom right is a big ol' punch bowl mostly out of frame.

                              @Braden-Hallett that’s what i was thinking! Im struggling to figure out what to put in the back against the wall. Maybe a curtain?

                                @Aleksey It could just be left as a dark space. Dances in gyms are usually pretty low light

                                  @Braden-Hallett yeah I put a single element in the back and it seems to works pretty well.

                                  @Chip-Valecek hows this?

                                    @Aleksey this is looking good but I think that table is a little busy. I like @Braden-Hallett s idea about the big bowl. And for some reason the cane keeps grabbing my eye away. I hope you don’t mind but I played a little with the crop and foreground.

                                      @burvantill no I don’t mind. I put the cane there intentionally because i think it adds a little bit more story. And i see the bigger punch bowl makes sense but the right side feels emptier now for some reason.

                                        @Aleksey I agree. Maybe a different angle or perspective on the cane. 🤔

                                          @burvantill yeah that’s a good point. I flipped it and added a few more elements. I think using color and values with the spotlight will really help bring this together. What do you think?
