@Braden-Hallett they could be negotiating who has to tackle which problem. Like playing poker. Or play Rock Paper Scissors for it. Or the laugh at your self smile, like “I don’t even know where to start.” Or you could make the parents hide under the table holding hands. Let’s pretend they’re not here. This is a very relatable illustration you have started! Although, I’ll keep my kids. They have their moments

@Braden-Hallett this is great. Pascal Campion is posting some very loose comic sketches along these lines on his Instagram lately. You should check it out. He’s one of my favorites and he captures the pains and joys of parenting so perfectly. ☺️

          Aaaaaand refined values:

          alt text

Super basic light kinda colour study

          alt text

And finally. Friggin' finally. The step that now takes me the least amount of time which I use to try to get to as soon as friggin' possible, the linework.

          alt text

There's some clusters of tangents and lots of chaotic overlapping, but since it's suppose to FEEL chaotic, frenzied and just an utter cluster#*&^% I'm going to keep them.

Thanks everyone for your feedback so far 🙂

@Braden-Hallett always impressive stuff. Cant wait to see how you decide to color it. But dang these parents are so into themselves nothing else matters right now.

@Braden-Hallett OMG. So good! This is going to be a fun one.

My only feedback would be where the parents heads are in relation to the bottom of the shelves, along with the cereal boxes. It's hard for me to tell the depth; are they in front of the shelves or underneath it? I know they're in front but my brain was playing tricks on me a bit. Lighting may resolve that.

And with the cereal boxes, the focus on the love between the parents two faces might be more clear if the boxes didn't take away from their silhouette? Maybe just leave the box on the left so the back of the dads head is more obvious.

                      Great line work btw!

@Aleksey Thanks 😀 I'm gonna go with the overly wamr colour scheme for the chaos with the nice cool blue in the eye of the storm with the parents.

They ARE super into themselves :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes: at least until little Danica finds something solid in those cupboards and whips it at Jeremy's face to shut him up. Then Philly's gonna lose his soother. And we all know what happens when Philly loses his soother...

@Whitney-Simms All great ideas :smiling_face_with_open_mouth: thank you! I think I'll stick with the tender moment in this case (though I may explore hiding under the table or negotiating for child-minding priorities in another piece)

@Braden-Hallett Yes. I think that color scheme would best convey the feel.

This looks so good. My only feedback is I find it a bit odd that the parents are on one side and the children on the other. It takes away from one of your original brain storms of the parents been at the eye of the storm. Unless you are planning it that way for how it would work with text.

UGG this is so good. I was going to say the color scheme of warm and parents cool is the best one, but you already said it. Great work @Braden-Hallett

I love the color study with the cool colors on the parents and warm colors everywhere else. I think it really reinforces what you are going for.

@Braden-Hallett I like the tension of the red overlay colour -red being the obvious love colour and also angry colour at least for me. So in one way the environment is going off the walls madness but the parents don't let this consume their love for their family -two different points of view wrapped up or should I say exploding at the same time! And the parents are successfully staying cool. 🙂
