September prompt WIP. Feedback always welcome :)

Thanks everyone (I meant to do a smiley face but I'm keeping whatever the hell that thing is)

I'm surprised it's the middle one! But that's probably because I identify with #3 more as an ex substitute teacher :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

Middle one it is! I may do a spread to extend the train of weird stuff

I decided this was a good candidate for a spread (and also, I don't have any spreads in my portfolio...)

Rough sketch, basic value study, and a couple of colour studies.

I'm going with the one with the orange bus (it's closer to a real school bus colour and isn't so vibratey colour-wise.

My plan with the colour choices (I wanted LOTS of colours.) is to start with red on the left, and then gradually go around the colour wheel with green on the right. Then we pop up to yellow for the bird cage and street sign and finally orange for the bus. And then in flows round and round (I hope )

And my goal for artistic development at the moment is work lighter and brighter in general. I have the bad habit of going dark and grey given half a chance

Inking begins! SO MUCH INKING!

In fact so much colouring.

I'm hoping to have inks done tomorrow and then paint over the weekend

If all else fails, I can turn it in as black and white :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

Braden, this is so funny and amazing! I’d double check the steering wheel lining up with the orientation of the bus. Can’t wait to see this progress... I could look at all the details for hours.
