I see what you mean concerning the illustration with the old man and dog not really having a focal point and the lack of an organized, hierarchical structure. I will definitely take your suggestions to heart and explore some more layouts that help communicate a clearer narrative, namely that the old man is somewhat isolated and grumpy because of his own shortcomings and rigid personality traits. In regards to the 007 image as well, you are spot on! I did not even notice the converging lines on the nose and the zero. You definitely have a keen eye and I totally appreciate the time you took out of your day to provide such helpful observations and suggestions!

I use to be far more shy; God has used uncomfortable experiences in my life to empower me to be more bold and brave. I hope and pray you find your place. Fred's new ride is a pickup truck, for the main purpose of shopping for Rex Ribs, etc. A tank. A wheelchair. A square block of rock, on wheels.

@duttychai Thank you for the comment! I love drawing and painting eyes. They can make all the difference in an image when done right.

I work with both analog & digital tools. My preference between the two depends on the task.

Analog tools are my preference when it comes to doing studies and exercises. They feel more natural in my hand and the tactile feedback while drawing gives a greater sense of control. The number of physical tools and mediums are also fun to work with.

Digital tools are my preferred option for more detailed and colorful work. The ability to use and manipulate layers, mirror the canvas, and shift the brush color quickly make it a joy to work on realistic images. It has also been fun experimenting with the nearly endless amount of digital brushes available online.

@Jordi-Ventura I don't dislike video games 100% as well but they eat so much of my time. I'm the type of person who gets obsessed very easily. Once I get invested in a game, I go all out. I once spent almost 2 days with no sleep playing a mobile cooking game. 😅 That's why I've decided that for me, if something is that addictive, I better get something more than entertainment out of it otherwise, I'm off. The same goes to other media. This is purely just my opinion tho.

Now, that nomad artist dream of yours sounds amazing. I'd like to try that in the future once I earn enough money even just for a few months, just visiting different countries and soaking in the culture. I wish you all the best.

@lora_chaudavis Thanks, I've really enjoyed drawing the little plant critters lately. All part of a world I try to go to help me come up with things to draw so I'm not sitting there staring at a blank page. There is so much that goes into game design, it's unreal how much you have to think about. But like anything, the more you flesh out that world even if you don't see it all, the better it will be.

@fpichel I don't know, in my experience the illustration market isn't any more saturated than the animation market. I think freelance illustration is harder just because it requires some business and savvy skills that a lot of artists know nothing about (it's not really taught in school either). But when I left my studio job it took me about 2 months to get to a full-time income and I've been doing well since. I'm not that mind-blowingly awesome at illustration, I'm okay but there are many artists much better than me. My best strength honestly, is that I know how to make a good plan to achieve my goals! And that's always worked really well for me 🙂
