@MirkaH yes that's a helpful bit of info, thank you very much 🙂 I didn't know about new taxes on books in the U.S. That's awful. I'm in Canada and our province did that a few years ago and there was uproar. They cancelled the tax after a year or so.
when my kids were little, board books were so great for not having them tear the books up haha. little stinkers. Someone needs to explain to babies and toddlers to not be tearing up books lol

@demotlj If you take a look at the youtube videos from @Lee-White he covers a bit of the creative process shared in the turbocharging course. Can't remember if he goes over keys words in particular, but it'll kinda point you in the right direction and give you the gist of it 🙂

Thank you so much for your honest opinions. Your advises are really helpful. I have a long list of homework now. Gotta figure out a route to tackle everything you mentioned.

@Coley You won't regret ytour iPad purchase. It has had a HUGE influence for me, personally, on my self-confidence and hopes for my professional future. Enjoy learning Procreate--it doesn't do everything Photoshop does, but it's a mighty fine package that gets you much more than half way there, especially with an Apple Pencil. Have fun!!! 🙂

@Shawn and @sigross Thanks for the help. I got my sisters to help to check all of your suggestions. All systems were good. However, she discovered that my Cintiq wasn't being read or connected. Instead, it was working through a windows paint program. After realizing this, we figured out how to reconnect the Cintiq again. Then it said that the drivers needed to be updated.

So it's working better again. Hopefully, it stays that way. Thanks again, for jump-starting my troubleshooting.

@davidhohn thank you for opinion. I agree that technical approach is not fun 🙂 Ive done it now and it looks all right. PS: You have a vast portfolio! What did you do for Nike?

@Gwendolene-vdm this is great to hear! Really happy for you! Maybe you can ask her whether she has had problems with illustrators not taking direction before, and what, in her experience, makes a stand out illustrator to work with in that regard.

@Laurel-Aylesworth Worth checking out Underpinned. It's a virtual office for freelancers. Good for organising all your office stuff and tracking/getting paid by clients. I've just recently started using it so I'll update you as to how useful it is. I'm hoping it helps me get more organised, I'm not an admin fan - they do have an invoicing system built in that's pretty cool. My friend Julia designed the User Interface for it. I'm a fan of her design!

Hello! I am working on updating my site and posted a few weeks ago and got some great feedback.

It was suggested that I make some editorial work or think about what an art director might need. I made some work in response to this poem in The New Yorker.

I'd love some GENTLE feedback. My daughter has not slept in a month... which is why I chose to illustrate this work 🙂

@xin-li regarding changes. I haven’t had experience with this as an illustrator BUT have had loads of experience as a designer. I will usually give a client one chance to look closely and think hard about the changes because anymore after that will be considered “change orders” and will be charged as such. I think that this is reasonable, because I spend a lot of time beforehand discussing what the client wants. I have gone soft if it’s a good client and given more leeway on changes but not if it’s someone I haven’t worked with before.

@idid thank you for sharing your experience. One of the reasons I want to have a printer is to make part of my painting process analog. Of course, there is a risk of me not using the printer enough, and the printer takes too much fiddle to maintain. I am also looking into if some other artists at my collective will be interested in art printing :-).
