@tallison7, Sarah is correct, you can add oil on top of acrylic, but never the other way around. (actually I shouldn't say never, there is one technique where I do exactly that! but you have to be careful.)

I think it looks really great. Maybe a little more contrast on the face so it pops a little more but I don't think I would change much else.

@jake-parker My husband just commented on my comment about the teeth:
"As a human being I have to say: "An ant with a hand-knitted cap... ? Hmmm." LoL

I love the concept, I just think it needs a little structure. Some of your forms get a little wonky. @Maile-McCarthy has such a great critique that I don't think I could add to it without doing a drawover. So here you go. Pay close attention to the mouse skeletal structure. Understanding that kind of stuff really helps when you need to put the animal in different poses.

I do my inked lines... with ink. Brush pen and real paper, scanned and then finished in Illustrator. Maybe one day I'll get a cintiq (or equivalent) and move to doing things all digital, but for now I like my hybrid process.

I have done some line art in illustrator--the brush tool and width tool both are very helpful for that. But as my process has developed I've been doing more traditional inking. It works and I like it.

@Ben-J-Hutchison Gouache is its own animal and because its water soluable I've mixed watercolors with it as well. I've done a watercolor wash and then gouache on top of that. You can also treat gouache like oils as well in the sense that you paint your lightest lights and darkest darks to start the painting. What is great about gouache is that you can reactive a layer underneath the layer your painting on and end up with some nice blending.

@Carey-Bowden Hey Carey it's a pencil brush but because of the texture I put on everything make it look very pastel like stroke. I use thin ply wood and painted lightly over with white acrylic, light enough that you can still see the texture of the wood then i scanned it in.
