@Georgios-Christopoulos Ah sorry I misunderstood your question! I agree with @TessaW, I think this style could work well for a mid-grade children's book (approx 8-12 years) but maybe not for younger kids. Depends what market you are aiming at really. I'm absolutely no children's book expert btw but I do work with children and as a result see lots of children's books.

To echo what @stringfellowart said, you're values are all very similar in the mid-light to light range. If you are working in Photoshop you can make a new layer on top set to color and fill it with black. This will make everything look grayscale so you can check the values then just hide the layer to see your colors. You can then adjust the saturation and darkness (ctrl-u on windows) of your other layers or a selection while the grayscale layer is on for a scary yet thrilling experience. You may not like the new color but it gives you and idea once you settle on a value. I learned that tIP here in the forum sometime last monthand it's been helpful for me.

Edit: Just noticed you didn't use photoshop. Sorry. I'm not familiar with the program you used but if you can make different types of layers there may be a way to still do this digital trick.

@Leontine I really like this. Is it digital or traditional, I can't tell off the screen. Very cold.

I like your concept a lot and you've done a great job on your lighting! I agree with Steve that she looks a bit stiff. I was thinking with the way her hip is propped and should is dropped maybe her empty hand would look better lower toward her body. Just a thought. 🙂

@Maile-McCarthy Thanks Maile. The original title for this piece was "When Peter Pan comes to your house and the power is out and you've killed all of the flashlight batteries in your Game Boy, so you have to carry around one of your mom's old candles". But I felt it was a little wordy, so I settled on "A Childhood Friend". lol

      Yes, a bit! LOL
