Hi all! I'm interested in taking this course. Any chance discount coupons are still available this close to the launch date, or should I just enroll now?

Hey guys, I thought I'd chime in here and answer some of your questions.

Price: This class has been a massive undertaking and we are still building it all. It is a LOT of content and we have a full team on it. So the price has not been advertised yet because we want to make sure its all locked down. We are comparing this class in quality to the absolute best instruction available at the college level and we will be cheaper than any college class out there.

SVS includsion: this is a stand alone system and has it's own site and price. We wanted to do it this way because otherwise we would have had to raise the price on the svs membership (which we did NOT want to do).

Free Videos: If you sign up on www.childrensbookpro.com you will receive 6 videos. These contain some pretty good content that is just a very small sample of what we do in the class. It also puts you in line for the initial class offering which will be limited to an "early bird" group. If you miss this window, you will still be able to take the class down the road, but some things are just for this group. For example, We are doing a live zoom session weekly for Q&A. This is not a full crit session, but it's a way to ask questions where we can hopefully help you out.

Schedule: The classes will "drip" content weekly. You can choose to follow along with that schedule or go at your own pace. You own the classes forever once you purchase it.

Let me know if you have any more questions at all. I'd be happy to answer as best I can. : )

      Cheers,
      Lee

Hi everyone, it's been a while. I've pretty much redone most of image 1. I wanted to make it cleaner with the painting style as it was kinda messy. I've taken into account all your notes and applied them to it so I hope you see an improvement.
I could write out everything that's been changed but you should be able to see for yourself 🙂

I'm personally really happy with how this has turned out. I took way more time to pay more attention to detail and I think it's paid off. I just now need to match the rest of the illustrations to this 😳(11 so far...and that's only half of the planned amount).

      I have a question actually.
What dimensions do you generally go for when illustrating for a picture book? In pixels and/or inches...
I've been illustrating at a much higher pixel dimension as I like to really zoom in and go into detail but it obviously increases the file size quite significantly and too often makes the app crash on my tablet.
I've played around with making the canvas properties smaller of the existing illustration, but because it was originally done in a much higher resolution, it distorts the pencil lines a lot.
Or do you know of a way to compress the file size without losing picture quality?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum. Anyone joining folktale week? This is my first time, I loved the prompts!!! I wanted to explore this year's prompts with a little twist of my own.

This piece is inspired by the classic tale of Knight and Dragon with a little twist of my own.

@gavpartridge that's why I referenced the rugrats episode where they basically have an intervention for the 3 yr old girl who's addicted to cookies 🤣 to this day I've never seen a better kids version of addiction and how well executed it was.

Hi all! I’m brand new to SVS and am struggling to illustrate a few children’s books that have been on my To Do list for years. The task seems very daunting and I feel I am lacking in skills. What advice would you give? Perhaps a mentor or coach to help me along this arduous and exciting journey????

@Georgios-Christopoulos Ah sorry I misunderstood your question! I agree with @TessaW, I think this style could work well for a mid-grade children's book (approx 8-12 years) but maybe not for younger kids. Depends what market you are aiming at really. I'm absolutely no children's book expert btw but I do work with children and as a result see lots of children's books.
