I'm working on environments and here on some rough thumbnails of a piece I am working up. I'm off to find some references before I continue on to a more detailed rough.

@Jiří-Kůs Thanks for your comments. Yup scale and perspective are both off, I'll try and adjust that stuff on the next pass. I'll be doing a few of these quick studies with color blocks to help myself think more about overall environment since I have a tendency to concentrate on the characters.

I really enjoyed this challenge and now looking back at some of my drawings I did a year or two ago that included hands and then these 50 and the sketching i have done since doing them - wow what a vast improvement I am noticing in myself already! Please share your hands if you decide to work on them.

I am using quite cheap pens. In this I used two kinds: a Stabilo Greenpoint with 0.8 mm tip and a Schneider Topliner 967 with 0.4 mm tip. I am not sure how known they are outside Germany.

How nice to ask for a name!? 🙂 I like if the name of a character is somehow contrary to his/her personality to cause a kind of surprize for the reader, when the characters behavior does not really match the expectations. I am not an expert and it would be interesting to hear what Lee (@Lee-White) is saying about this.
For German ears this girl looks like a Gertie, which sounds very diffident and well-behaved. If you prefer to go for a more cheeky name then I would propose a boyish name, like Kim. I don't know why but I find also a french name pretty good for her like Gabrielle. These are my proposals :-). What do you think?

Nice study. I would darken up the inside of the bottom bowl which should make the white of the upper bowl "pop" more. You could darken the shadow under the bottom bowl as well. Just some thoughts.

I'm working on a couple of water color pieces that I'm hoping to share with the group soon to get your thoughts. I love the smell, feel, and textures using traditional media.

@Jana Yeah, that's added a ton more character to the image. I love fables! You can learn so much from animals!

The only thing I'd maybe change is the colour of the background... it's making the colours feel all crazy and the bee's not standing out too well because of the brain attack the colour behind it is giving me lol.

Looking great Jana! - I believe what I like about the first composition is that we discover the tower the same way the rider does - we move our eye from the squirrel to the owl to the horses head to the riders head and then to the tower - with it flipped we see the tower first then go to the riders head (seem to skip the horses head entirely)then to the owl then the squirrel - and back to the tower - I both the dog is discovered slightly later which is fine ....anyways I don't disagree with anything you wrote but I though I would share how I am reading it 🙂 - beyond that the horses legs look good! - sorry to keep going back to your original study but I think the gesture of the rider and the scale of the rider really looked nice in that color study - in this new version the upper body of the boy is too long - I understand that he may be "posting" in the stirrups but I think he reads as too big somehow - the head stands out to me as being too large also...I know it is his haircut but I though I would just say what I was seeing - once again i'll point back to your color study - it looks correct there and also the negative space between the boy and the horse looks very nice in the study also - anyways it may just be me so feel free to ignore! ...really looking nice!

@Shannon Perkins yeah, maybe the consistency doest works well i thaw the hedgedog this way cause hes so tiny, but if they doesn't suit with others i try to find other way to draw it :/.
